“Healthy Dining is teaming up with America’s restaurants to provide diners with a selection of great-tasting Healthy Dining menu choices as well as accurate nutrition information. Since dining out is central to the American lifestyle – and more Americans than ever are interested in health and nutrition – this powerful program is contributing to a healthier America by bringing together the restaurant industry’s “culinary brilliance” with America’s quest for healthier cuisine. Healthy Dining’s mission is to empower Americans to enjoy dining out as part of a healthier lifestyle and to inspire restaurants to prosper by offering ‘dietitian-approved Healthy Dining menu choices’ emphasizing lean proteins, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and unsaturated fats. More than 60,000 participating restaurant locations, from fast food to fine dining, are featured on Healthy Dining’s signature site, HealthyDiningFinder.com. The site is a trusted resource for consumers to find menu items that meet the Healthy Dining criteria and ‘seal of approval.’
HealthyDiningFinder.com and participating restaurants are promoted to the public through an ever-evolving network of partnerships with employers, health organizations, health insurance companies, weight control programs, fitness centers, other stakeholders, and through the media. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provided partial funding for the development of the initiative through a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) grant. The National Restaurant Association is a founding partner of HealthyDiningFinder.com, along with other industry partners including Nation’s Restaurant News, American Express and Food Channel PRO. “
